on

Rockland County, NY – A significant winter storm is forecast to impact Rockland County and the broader New York metropolitan region late Saturday into Sunday, bringing accumulating snow and hazardous travel conditions.

National weather forecasts and local meteorologists are signaling that the storm could produce periods of moderate to heavy snow, with accumulating snow likely beginning Saturday evening and continuing into Sunday morning. Snowfall rates could reach near 1 inch per hour, especially late Saturday night, making roads slick and travel dangerous.

Forecasters are also highlighting a chance that the snow could briefly mix with sleet or freezing rain overnight, particularly as temperatures fluctuate around the freezing mark early Sunday.

What to Expect

  • Timing: Snow likely begins Saturday afternoon or evening and continues through Sunday morning.

  • Snow Accumulation: Most forecasts suggest several inches of snow are possible across the Lower Hudson Valley, including Rockland County. Exact totals remain uncertain and could vary depending on the storm track.

  • Travel Conditions: Roads are expected to become snow-covered and slick, especially overnight into Sunday. Motorists are advised to monitor conditions and consider postponing non-essential travel if possible.

  • Storm Watches/Warnings: A Winter Storm Watch or similar advisory has been discussed across the region, indicating the potential for significant snowfall and impacts.

Local Preparations

Officials in the Hudson Valley and New York City area have been urging residents to prepare ahead of the storm by:

  • Stocking up on essential supplies,

  • Charging phones and devices in case of outages,

  • Keeping emergency kits in vehicles,

  • Planning ahead if travel is necessary.

Winter storm impacts have already been felt across the Northeast this season, with previous systems bringing heavy snow and bitter cold to the region.

As the weekend storm approaches, residents should stay tuned to updates from the National Weather Service and local authorities for the latest forecast adjustments and safety advisories.

Dalton’s path to the professional level has been shaped by steady development and high-level performances. He began playing locally with Rockland GAA and OMM Soccer in Orangetown before a brief stint at Pearl River High School. He later joined the New York Red Bulls Academy, one of the nation’s top youth development programs.

Dalton went on to become a four-year starting goalkeeper at Rutgers University, where he established himself as a reliable presence in net. As a freshman, he helped the Scarlet Knights win the Big Ten Tournament Championship, recording 53 saves, three shutouts, and a .707 save percentage. Over his collegiate career, Dalton totaled more than 200 saves, earned multiple shutouts, and received conference honors.

After graduating from Rutgers in December, Dalton earned the opportunity to train with Nashville SC, marking a full-circle moment from Rockland County’s local soccer fields to the doorstep of Major League Soccer.
