VALLEY COTTAGE, NY – Shocking Video: A driver was filmed driving erratic, crossing the double yellow line multiple times in Valley Cottage before eventually striking another vehicle and flipping over.

The whole incident was recorded by the passenger of a car while the driver was on the phone with 9-1-1 detailing to dispatch the location of the vehicle. The accident occurred on Route 9W and Brittany Court. The driver of the white car was extracted from the vehicle by members of the Valley Cottage Fire Department 22. He was transported to Nyack Hospital (injuries unknown at this time). The incident occurred on May 16, 2020 at approximately 4 pm.

Update via Clarkstown Police Department –

At approximately 6:45 pm on Saturday, May 16, 2020, the Clarkstown Police Department responded to a two car motor vehicle accident on Rt 9W in the area of Barmore Hill in Valley Cottage. A 911 call was made by a witness stating that they had been following a white Toyota in a southbound direction on Rt 9W, that had crossed over into oncoming traffic and struck a Honda sedan traveling northbound. The Toyota being driven by the erratic driver overturned causing him to become entrapped, Valley Cottage FD did extricate him from the vehicle. The other driver from the Honda was observed by EMS at the scene and the driver of the Toyota was removed by Congers-Valley Cottage Ambulance to Nyack ER, they were the only occupants in their respective vehicles.

Once the department receives the findings of the blood tests to determine if the driver was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol are made available to us, we will be able to make a determination if criminal charges are to be filed. At this time the driver of the Toyota has been issued traffic summonses in regards to the accident.
