Ramapo Police Department Respond To Shots Fired – Attempted Murder

On Monday, November 25, 2024, at approximately 12:22 am, the Ramapo Police Department responded to East Eckerson Road in the Town of Ramapo for the report of gunshots fired. Upon the officers arrival, evidence was recovered, indicating that at least 9 shots were fired from a passing vehicle. No victims were reported to have been struck and no one was injured. Through a continuing investigation, 2 suspects were arrested on Monday, November 25, 2024. Those two suspects, both males, aged 22 of Yonkers, N.Y. and aged 19, from Newburgh, N.Y. were charged with Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 1* Degree, Reckless Endangerment 1* Degree and Conspiracy 2nd Degree. They were arraigned in the Town of Ramapo Court. The investigation is still ongoing, and no further details will be released at this time. The Ramapo Police Department was assisted on scene by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Busy Weekend for Ramapo Police: 17 Arrests, Including Two Troubling Child Safety Cases

RAMAPO, NY — The Town of Ramapo Police Department made 17 arrests over the weekend in a range of incidents that highlight ongoing public safety concerns in the community.

The arrests included:

  • 8 individuals for driving with suspended licenses or vehicle registrations

  • 3 individuals with outstanding warrants

  • 2 arrests for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI)

  • 2 arrests in connection with separate public exposure incidents

  • 2 troubling cases involving unsupervised toddlers, ages 2 and 3, found without adult supervision

“These arrests reflect the broad scope of our officers’ daily work,” the department said in a statement. “From enforcing traffic laws to responding to more serious public safety concerns, our officers are out there doing great police work.”

Officials noted that once arrests are made, cases are handed over to the criminal justice system for prosecution, while officers return to patrol duty to continue protecting the community.

Ramapo Police Arrest Two in Violent Robbery, Extortion Investigation

Ramapo, NY — Following a detailed investigation, Ramapo Police have arrested two 19-year-old males—one from Flushing, NY, and one from Monsey, NY—in connection with multiple violent crimes. The suspects face a wide range of charges, including robbery, extortion, grand larceny, coercion, and multiple hate crimes.

Investigators say the suspects lured victims via a dating app to a children’s park in Wesley Hills, where they brandished weapons, assaulted victims, and stole personal property.

Thanks to coordinated efforts between patrol officers and detectives, the suspects were apprehended and arraigned in Wesley Hills Court. Judge Schnelwar set bail at $50,000 cash, $100,000 secured bond, or $200,000 unsecured bond for each defendant. Both are currently held at the Rockland County Jail.
